Camp Activities

This two-week musical theatre intensive, hosted by Grenfell Activity Camps, culminates in a full-scale musical, which equally features all participants and their unique strengths and talents.

The first few days of the camp will be spent playing trust-building theatre games and honing performance and audition skills. In-camp auditions early in the session will allow for performance experience in a safe peer environment—everyone will learn the same song, and will have the option to audition with a friend if they feel nervous.

Rehearsal time will be divided between singing, acting, and dance training, using the script and songs as material. Our two-week rehearsal time mirrors the length of most professional rehearsal periods; our process is intensive but very rewarding. Lock and Keynote is known not only for a professional process but also a polished product; our shows serve as high quality entertainment for the surrounding community.

What to Bring\Wear to Camp

Comfortable clothes are a necessity. Suitable items include anything that you don't mind getting dirty and stuff that's easy to move in (example, jogging pants, t-shirts, running shoes, etc.). Indoor shoes are required.
NO FLIP FLOPS!

Each student will make their own arrangements for snacks and lunch. There will be a break in the morning and afternoon. Lunch hour will be from 12 until 1 p.m. and students are welcome to bring their lunch and eat at the school, or to make alternate arrangements. All activities are NUT FREE.

Advanced Camp

Our advanced camp is a companion to our main camp that is aimed to prepare serious students for auditions, whether they be for performing jobs or for musical theatre schools. It will be held in two parts: the first being participation in our main camp, and the second being a series of workshops held after our main camp has finished. Advanced campers will audition, rehearse, and perform in our main camp’s production of “Bye Bye Birdie”, but also have leadership roles such as dance captains and vocal rehearsal leaders during the camp’s rehearsals to provide them with teaching experience. Outside of the main camp, advanced campers will complete workshops on topics how to prepare on audition tape, how to pick and prepare audition material, and more. By the end of the two weeks, they will have two mock auditions under the belt, and a monologue and two audition song cuts in their toolbox for when they head to their real auditions! The advanced camp is open for campers aged 14-18. The first portion of the registration is open now on our website, while the second portion will open through Grenfell Campus on May 6th.
