Shari Porter

Originally from Cochrane, Ontario, Shari currently works in Toronto as a piano, voice and flute teacher, as a musical director, as an arranger and as an accompanist. Theatre credits include John and Jen (LOC Productions), Crazy for You and A New Brain (Queen's Musical Theatre), Beauty and the Beast (Fallen Rock Productions), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Lock and Keynote Productions), Legally Blonde (Mainstage Theatre), and The Wonderful Music of Disney (as arranger, Gros Morne Summer Music).

 

Shari is the musical director and a founding member of Open Corps, a collaborative theatre ensemble, with whom she has developed and music directed Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, The Soldier's Tale, Pictures at an Exhibition, and Children's Corner. She is a teacher at Randolph Academy of the Performing Arts Kids Program, and is a music director for Acting Up Stage's One Song Glory, an annual youth training program and cabaret. Her original cabaret musical, WAKE, written and performed with Chris Jackman, premiered with Gros Morne Summer Music in summer '14 and toured Northern Ontario with the LaSalle Theatre in the fall.

She is the mother of Lock and Keynote's youngest member, baby Susie. All of these credits combined equals the best job in the world.
