Candice Pike

Choreographer (2011)

Candice Pike is a a dance practitioner, teacher, researcher, and advocate based in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. She has taught ballet, jazz, and dance fitness for nine years in Corner Brook, NL and Toronto, ON and complete a MA in Dance from York University in 2010. She is passionate about fostering an appreciation for dance in her community and has recently worked as an independent artist

with Dance Studio West, Learning Through the Arts, Gros Morne Summer Music (where she is currently Festival Manager), and other community groups to introduce performance training, somatic education, and formal technique training to local youth and adults. Her choreography and dancing has been featured in DSW's year-end recitals, local productions of The Nutcracker (2011), Sleeping Beauty (2011), and Peter Pan (2008), and her piece Missed Connections was performed in coffee shops around Corner Brook as part of DanceNL's Dance Week 2011. She has also choreographed numbers for Lock and Keynote Productions and Grenfell Campus Theatre Program. Candice is the vice-president of DanceNL where she acts as an advocate for dance practice and research across the province and recently organised Corner Brook's contribution their Dance Week initiative. A lifelong learner, Candice is currently a student at the Canadian School for Natural Nutrition and is excited to develop a holistic wellness program for artists in the coming months.
